Gennady Nikolaevich Rozhdestvensky in the period from 1982. by 1992. was the chief conductor and artistic director of the State Symphony Orchestra of the USSR Ministry of Culture, on his initiative merged with the Chamber Choir Valery Polyansky in the Symphony Choir. One of the greatest conductors of the XX century, pianist and composer. 

Born May 4, 1931 in Moscow into a family of conductor, professor at the Moscow Conservatory, Nikolai Pavlovich Anosov and singer Natalia Petrovna Christmas.
He studied at the Music School. Gnesin at EF Gnesina and the Central Music School and then at the Moscow Conservatory (piano LN Oborin, conducting class NP Anosov). In 1954 he graduated from the Moscow Conservatory (class of Professor N. Anosov), in 1957 - post-graduate studies.
As a student at the Conservatory, in 1951 he trained at the Bolshoi Theatre, which made its debut at the same Tchaikovsky ballet "Sleeping Beauty". From 1951 to 1960. He worked at the Bolshoi ballet conductor, and from 1965 to 1970. there served as chief conductor. His repertoire is about 40 operas and ballets, including the ballet "Humpbacked Horse" by Rodion Shchedrin (1960), "Carmen Suite" by Bizet-P. Shchedrin (1967), "Spartacus" by Khachaturian (1968), "War and Peace" by Prokofiev; Christmas for the first time on the Russian stage put a number of operas, including "The human voice" Poulenc and "Midsummer Night's Dream" Britten.
